We are currently over subscribed for the next rally, but we are taking registrations for the wait list and will know if there are more positions available by the end of June.

Rally 2011 update.

Things are progressing very well and the registrations have been coming in thick and fast. We will be going through the registrations this coming week and start the process of issuing acceptances, so don’t panic, we will get back to you very soon. Actually it is our aim to respond to everyone before the end of the month, but we just wanted to let you know that we have not forgotten about you – in fact, you are on our minds constantly!

We’ve been asked a bunch of questions, so we have complied some of them into a frequently asked questions page for you. Have a read through these and if you have any more just drop us an email.

How does it work?

Teams

As a general principle we say 2 people/drivers per team. The reason for this is that we may need all the extra room we can get for passengers of those machines that can’t manage the entire journey. We do have an exception to this rule, we allow a ‘hitch-hiker’ for those that want to join, but are unable to drive.

All teams need to raise a minimum of $4,000 to participate in the rally, so if there’s two of you only $2,000 each. So get onto friends, work colleagues, family and start thinking of some ideas to boost your fundraising. Cancer council have a helpful booket of fundraising tips that you can download here.

The cars

The only stipulation that we have for the car that you choose is that you spend no more than AUS$1,000 on buying it and this must include registration and roadworthiness. There are plenty of cars on www.carsales.com.au and www.tradingpost.com.au for $1,000 or less all inclusive.

Rally Route for 2011

The 2011 rally will take us from sunny Brisvegas, into the Queensland outback, North to the Table and Savannah Lands, through escarpment country, million acre cattle stations, river crossings, aboriginal settlements, across to Katherine Gorge and onto Darwin via Kakadu. This really will be an incredible trip.

The route is designed to give us all a suitable challenge and to see as much as we can whilst covering serious distance over the course of the week. Each year we will have 2-3 days of dirty road driving and for 2011 we will be spending this time on the Savannah Way. This is one of the most remote roads in Australia that is usually closed during the wet season.

Destinations: Depart Brisbane, then to Roma, Longreach, Gregory Downs, middle of nowhere on the Savannah Way, Lorella Springs, Katherine Gorge, Darwin.

Think about it – this is going to be great fun. Sure it’s not for everyone, those who don’t like to get their hands dirty or spend any time away from civilization need not apply. For the rest of us, this may just be what you have been looking for.
