Day 4 video – Innamincka to Windorah

When does a passion turn into an unhealthy obsession? When you buy a vintage Alfa Romeo and drive it through some of the roughest roads there are in Australia. Watch how five Alfa Romeos are doing in the rally and see some of the amazing landscape we’re driving through.

Day 3 video – Tibooburra to Innamincka

Last night Tibooburra closed off their main street, decked it out with tables and chairs and gave us a dinner and a show we. When everyone emerged from their tents the next day, we were greeted by another stunning country morning.
Today’s roads were harsh and dusty, with chunky stones taking their tole on the Shitboxes while the views out the window took everyone’s breath away. A few Shitboxes have limped into homebase this evening, with a couple being nursed back to health after lunching themselves in the bush.
We’re resting up in Innamincka tonight, with the lovely people at the Innamincka Hotel. Such tasty food and a couple of cheeky games around a big bonfire.
Tomorrow the roads will start to get brutal. Let’s hope our Shitboxes hold together and get us all there safely.

Day 2 video – Wentworth to Tibooburra

The people of Wentworth took good care of us and our Shitboxes. Thanks for showing us a great night. Today the Rally headed north for Tibooburra, taking the cars through Broken Hill and then giving them their first taste of serious dirt roads.

Watch how these sub $1k Shitboxes with plus 200,000k odometers perform in the dirt, dodge the roadkill and try to avoid shaking themselves apart.

Day 1 video – Melbourne to Wentworth

We’ve made it through the first day, Melbourne to Wentworth.

With the start line about 400 metres from where Burke and Wills set out, these Shitboxes had the odds stacked against them from the get go.

Most of the cars performed beautifully, making the journey without an issue – A few got a bit hot. A couple needed a bit more convincing to keep going. All of them brought smiles to the Victorian countryside, helped cement a marriage in style and surprised us at what you can fix under the bonnet with a plastic toothpick.
