February Update

OK, so we have been a bit behind with our updates – this happens when we go from 109 teams up to 170 and the workload jumps, fear not we will prevail! Since December and with the usual lull in fundraising efforts over the Christmas period the teams are moving forward full steam ahead. As you can see we have raised over $300k with most teams yet to reach their minimum amounts things are still looking good for us to reach our million dollar target.

All of the stop-overs are sorted and the finishing touches are starting to fall into place. Take a look at the ‘Team’ page on the website to see all of the teams participating in the rally. If you click in the links you can get further information about each team.

Rain rain go away
Some of you may have noticed that Qld and NSW have had a little rain again this year! After a few days of mild panic the water is starting to subside and our route is starting to dry out. Fingers crossed that the rain stays away especially as the 2012 rally has a lot more dirt road driving than any of the previous years.

The Shitboxes
A decent amount of the teams have already found, worked on and finished their shitboxes. At least one team are on their 3rd car already and I am currently looking for my second – I knew I shouldn’t have gone French! Still, there is plenty of time to find that perfectly crap car and I am hoping that South Australia will dish up something special.

We have conducted meet and greet nights for teams in SA, Vic, Qld, NSW and will be doing one in the ACT next week. These are a great way for teams to share ideas and get to know each other before we head out on the 14th April.

That’s it for now. There is plenty of fundraising going on, so if you see something happening, please get involved.

Cheers,

James

Fond memories

Here’s a look at some of the silly antics and beautiful scenary of shitbox rallies past. Enjoy.

Shitbox Rally 2012, Oct/Nov update

$20,000 raised in the last week – things are starting to rock and roll with the fundraising and we should smash our first $100,000 next week.

‘Beyond The Black Stump’ is off to a fabulous start with $6,386 already under their belt! Last week they held an event at Speido Bar & Restaurant in Sydney. They were fortunate to have all of the wine and bubbles donated by Treasury Wines (through Cellarbrations) and Spiedo generously adjusted their costing to cover food and labour. They also had a significant amount of support from a number of others for raffle items i.e. Yellow Tail wine, Lucy’s Run, Shortys Liquor, Endota Spa & the Bottleo team. The night was a great success with 50 people making it on the night.

‘Mike’s Angels’ also held a glitzy and glamorous fashion parade on the Gold Coast last Friday. The girls also managed to secure some great coverage in the Gold Coast Bulletin’s ‘Coast Confidential’ section. You can check the coverage out on our Facebook page.
Good work guys!

Additional special mentions go to ‘Into Thin Hair’ and ‘Bouly Boys’ who have already smashed the $4,000 minimum!

The teams will be getting in different major cities across the country in November. These are organised intro nights and a great way for people to meet each other before spending a week together in close quarters.
